About
The Vermont Parents for PreK website was created by the Vermont Community Preschool Collaborative (VCPC) as a guide for parents who want to know more about how their community can provide publicly supported preschool. VCPC is doing this because we believe parents are the most important advocates for their children.
VCPC is supported by several philanthropic foundations and individuals and operates as a donor fund through the Vermont Community Foundation. The foundations and individuals involved with VCPC recognize that education doesn’t begin in kindergarten but in the years before kindergarten. Since most Vermont families have parents in the workforce and rely on childcare for the daytime care of their children, the childcare venue is often the best place to deliver early education.
VCPC provides support and resources that allow Vermont communities, schools, child care providers and others to collaborate in providing high quality preschool experiences that are eligible for funding through the Vermont Department of Education. Currently, 35 communities have benefited from VCPC technical assistance and resources. For more about VCPC, please visit www.permanentfund.org/collaborations/vcpc.php.
